What this newsletter is all about
The Monday Morning Economist delivers short, engaging stories that show how economics connects to the world around us, from Taylor Swift’s concerns to tariff debates.
Each week, I break down current events, trends, and teaching tools to help you think like an economist, even if you’ve never taken an econ class (or didn’t enjoy the one you did).
New posts go out every Monday morning. Sometimes they’re fun. Sometimes they’re serious. Always grounded in economic thinking.
Why I started this
I’m a college economics professor who believes economics shouldn’t just live in textbooks or lecture halls. For more than a decade, I’ve worked to make economics more accessible to students, educators, and lifelong learners.
This newsletter started as a way to connect with people in the middle of a global pandemic. I was used to sharing the economic way of thinking with my students during class, and I thought people around the world would love to hear those stories, too.
It’s grown into something more. We’re now a community of thousands of curious readers from all walks of life who want to understand the world a little better each week.
