Your list of questions didn't include my responses: If the price of groceries rises, I still buy the groceries I would have otherwise, but two things happen: One is that I buy less of other things; but the second is also not the same as your list allows -- I wait for especially expensive things (beef, for example) to go on sale, then buy a lot of it.
This is fantastic classroom material. Just the sort of example that works great for small group discussions.
