A California family's bold recycling scheme led to a whopping $7.6 million windfall, but it wasn't without controversy. The family cleverly exploited California's Beverage Container Recycling Program, designed to incentivize responsible recycling. They pocketed the deposit refund by importing containers from Arizona, a state without a bottle deposit fee, and recycling them in California. Giddy up!
